Reading: Luke 12: 13-21
The parable of the rich fool told by Jesus seems harsh in its
judgement of the rich man. He is doing what we are all encouraged
at times to do. He has worked hard, saved hard, he hasn’t
swindled anyone or broken the law; all he wants to do is build
bigger barns to store what he has worked so hard for and then
be able to sit back and enjoy it.
In the end, it doesn’t matter whether we have wealth or
possesions. Between God and us, it’s not very important.
What is of vital importance is how hungry we are for God. Regardless
of how well off we may be in all other aspects of our life, that
is worth nothing if we have no hunger for God, for the Divine.
