We
have celebrated Pentecost Sunday (27th May) and have been reminded
of how the Christian church began. It burst into the world like
a rush of wind, a blaze of fire and a cacophony of voices and
languages.
Before Pentecost, the disciples were dense, timid bumblers who
fled at the least sign of trouble. Afterwards, they were fearless
leaders. They healed the sick and cast out demons. They went to
jail where they sang hymns until the walls fell down.
I want, no God and I want a church here at Trinity, Launceston
where you know that the Holy Spirit has been poured out on you
and you are just bursting to get involved in ministry.
Job 32: 18 “My heart is indeed like wine that has no vent;
like new wineskins; it is ready to burst! I must speak.”
As followers of Jesus, we have His Spirit within us. To put it
another way, the life force, the ground of His being is also within
us and, like Jesus, we too can offer help, hope and healing to
those seeking help, hope and healing.
